๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Role: Engineer โ€“ Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
๐Ÿ“ Location: Bangalore, India
๐Ÿ‘ค Interviewer: Vaibhav Nigam

Round 1 โ€“ Technical Interview (Virtual Video Call)

๐Ÿ”น Introduction & Project Discussion

  • Started with a self-introduction.
  • Discussed current and previous project contributions in detail.
  • Asked about involvement in any open-source projects:
    • Whatโ€™s the project name?
    • What was your role?

๐Ÿ”น Testing & CI/CD

  • What testing libraries have you used?
  • Have you ever worked on or configured CI/CD pipelines?

๐Ÿ”น AWS Ecosystem & Services

โœ… AWS Services Experience

  • What AWS services have you used so far?
  • Have you worked with:
    • API Gateway?
    • Secrets Manager?
    • EventBridge?
    • SQS and SNS?
      • How do they work?
      • What are their use cases?
      • Are there any message size limitations?
    • Event Bus?
    • Step Functions?

โš™๏ธ Architecture & Scalability

  • How does distribution work in Load Balancers?
  • Whatโ€™s the difference between:
    • Horizontal Scaling vs Vertical Scaling?
  • If designing a Load Balancer in EC2, what components must be created first?
  • Have you worked with cross-account roles?
  • Scenario:
    • You have a Lambda in Account A that needs to trigger another Lambda in Account B. How would you achieve this?

๐Ÿ”น DevOps Tools & API Documentation

  • What is Lambda Layers?
  • What is AWS SAM (Serverless Application Model)?
  • What framework do you use to map the entire tech stack?
  • Have you used Swagger or similar tools for API documentation?

๐Ÿ”น Python

  • How do you maintain types in Python?
  • What are decorators in Python?
  • What is duck typing?

๐Ÿ”น TypeScript Concepts

  • Difference between:

      type a = { name?: string };
      type a = { name?: String };

  • Difference between type and interface in TypeScript.

๐Ÿ”น JavaScript Deep Dive

  • How do closures work in JavaScript?

  • Difference between arrow functions and regular functions.

  • What is a bounded context?

    • When using a callback within a function, it captures variables from the outer scope. Are there scenarios where this doesn't work as expected?

๐Ÿ”น Node.js Internals

  • What is process.env?
  • What is a Process Library and what does it do?
  • Which library is used for multi-threading in Node.js?
  • How does Cluster hierarchy distribute tasks?
  • Difference between PM2 and Cluster in Node.js.

๐Ÿ”น ETL & Performance Discussion

  • What is ETL?

  • Why is Node.js not suitable for large ETL tasks?

    • Node is better suited as a handler, not for heavy computation.
    • Python is more suitable for data-heavy operations.

๐Ÿ”น Mocking & Error Handling

  • What is a mock?

  • How can you mock and return values in two different ways?

  • How do you handle global error extraction in Node.js?

    • e.g., capturing errors across multiple modules in a central try-catch block.

๐Ÿ”น Algorithm Problem

  • LeetCode: Longest Substring Without Repeating Characters

    • Write a function to find the length of the longest substring without repeating characters.
      • follow-up questions
      • What if Unicode?
      • What is Time and Space Complexity?
      • Can you optimize memory?
      • Return the substring instead of its length?

Round 2 โ€“ Online Technical Test (Hackerrank Round)

โœ… This interview covered a wide range of topicsโ€”from cloud and DevOps (AWS, CI/CD, SRE principles) to deep backend concepts in Node.js and TypeScript, with practical coding problems and architectural discussions.

Round 3 โ€“ Technical Client-1 (G-P) Interview (Virtual Video Call) ๐Ÿ‘ค Interviewer: Sreehari Mohan

  • Give me Quick overview of yourself or kind of technologies you've worked.
  • General question related to work experience.
  • You are given an integer n, return the fibonacci series till the nth(0-based indexing) term.
  • How will you access the path that service running inside the container.

Round 4 โ€“ Technical Client-2 (G-P) Interview (Virtual Video Call) ๐Ÿ‘ค Interviewer: Shashank Murthy

  • About your self
  • Shared Company overview what G-P is doing.
  • Coding Round : Elevator Scheduling Simulation You are tasked with simulating how an elevator serves a series of floor requests in a building. Each request is represented by a tuple of two floors: the floor a person gets on ('start_floor') and the floor they wish to go to ('end_floor'). Your task is to determine the sequence of floors where the elevator should open its doors to efficiently serve all the requests.
    • Key Rules and Assumptions
      • The elevator always starts from floor 1.
      • All floor numbers are between 1 and 100, inclusive ( There are no basement floors in the building )
      • Every request has distinct 'end_floor.
    • Objective
    • Implement the 'elevator()' function to return the exact list of floor numbers where the elevator opens its doors.
    • Example 1:
      • I/P requests = [(3, 5), (2, 5), (2, 4), (6, 2)]
      • o/p = 2,3,4,5,6,2
    • Example 2:
      • I/P requests = [(3, 5), (2, 4), (6, 2)]
      • o/p = 2,3,4,5,6,2
    • Example 3:
      • I/P requests = [(2, 4), (4, 3)]
      • o/p = 2,4,3

Round 5 โ€“ Techno-Manger Client-3 (G-P) Interview (Virtual Video Call) ๐Ÿ‘ค Interviewer: Sean Musick

  • Just tell me a bit about yourself and what you bring. what you bring to a team, what do you think your big strength are? How you like work?
  • What are key component found in strong team?
  • What are some of the last kind of things that you've worked on that where vou felt really really engaged?
  • What was a specific project where you felt?
  • What's the kind of the last thing that you know, we're always learning in this industry, we have to keep learning. So what's the last either new tool or new technology?
  • Can you imagine like, you know, different issues that might be when it comes to Al and and and and keeping Al in, you know, running in production and stable?
  • Do you find that like you know to one of the challenges in remote working is that exactly like what learning, collaboration and learning from other folks, especially when you're you in the door you know so is there like how do?
  • Talk about your strength
  • What are the what are the places that you've kind of identified?
  • In vertical scaling you know like OK, big giant monolith. There's technical challenges in in the horizontal scaling you know, so distributed tracing, you know, things like that.

Round 6 โ€“ HR Round ๐Ÿ‘ค Interviewer: Oindrila Bhaduri, C Subhashini reddy

  • Tell me about yourself, about your family background.
  • Salary Negotiation.
